The Hitcher (1986) is a psychological thriller directed by Robert Harmon. The film stars Rutger Hauer as John Ryder, a mysterious and psychotic hitchhiker who terrorizes a young man named Jim Halsey, played by C. Thomas Howell. As Jim becomes unwittingly entangled in Ryder's deadly game of cat and mouse, he must fight to survive and outsmart the relentless killer. In addition to Hauer and Howell, the film features Jennifer Jason Leigh as Nash, a waitress who becomes involved in Jim's plight.
The film became a cult classic within the thriller genre, praised for its tense atmosphere, suspenseful storytelling, and memorable performances.
