Movie Synopsis

Spider-Man Strikes Back is a made-for-television movie released in 1978, serving as a sequel to the earlier Spider-Man TV movie from 1977. In Spider-Man Strikes Back, Peter Parker (played by Nicholas Hammond) continues to balance his life as a college student and his secret identity as the crime-fighting Spider-Man. This time, Spider-Man faces a new threat when a scientist named Spencer Smythe (played by Robert Alda) creates a device capable of controlling the world's computers. Smythe, driven by his desire to wield power, intends to use this technology for his own nefarious purposes.
Meanwhile, Peter Parker is also dealing with personal challenges, including his relationship with his girlfriend, Jill Stacy (played by Joanna Cameron), and the responsibilities of his dual life. As Spider-Man, he must confront Smythe and his powerful invention before it falls into the wrong hands and wreaks havoc on society.

Spider-Man Strikes Back is notable for being one of the earliest live-action adaptations of the iconic Marvel Comics character, Spider-Man. It aired as a two-part television movie, capturing the attention of audiences who were eager to see their favorite web-slinger brought to life on screen.
While the production values and special effects of the 1970s TV movies may appear dated by today's standards, they were groundbreaking for their time. Nicholas Hammond's portrayal of Peter Parker and Spider-Man aimed to capture the essence of the beloved superhero, blending action with the character-driven storytelling that defines Spider-Man's appeal.
The success of Spider-Man Strikes Back and its predecessor helped pave the way for future adaptations of Spider-Man in film and television. It demonstrated the enduring popularity of the character and the potential for translating comic book heroes into live-action formats.

FAQ

Who is Movie Posters Australia?

At Movie Posters Australia, the love and conservation of movie posters comes first, and we like to share this passion. Our commitment to quality means we will provide high quality memorabilia to our customers. Posters are carefully chosen and authenticated to ensure originality and value. We want our customers to trust MPA, so we always try to be as open and transparent as we can, provide detailed condition information and images, to ensure customers are comfortable and confident in their purchase.

What do your condition ratings mean?

While the industry does have a few condition rating standards, there is no movie poster condition rating system that has become the accepted standard world wide. This unfortunately makes condition terms vary from movie poster dealer to movie poster dealer. Terms like Mint, Near Mint, Very Fine, Fine, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor, seem to be universal to most condition rating standards, but most standards still lack definition about what and how many flaws/defects/damage defines a specific condition level. For more information on how Movie Posters Australia grades the condition of its movie posters, daybills, lobby cards and other ephemera please see out Movie Poster Condition and Grading page.
