ROCKY (1976) US 1 Sheet, NSS 77/2, Sylvester Stallone, Very Fine, RARE!

Movie Synopsis, Movie Poster, Artist & more

A beautiful, original, first release NSS issued US Sheet movie poster. Although the movie premiered on 20th November 1976, it was officially released in the US on 3rd December 1976, but all first release posters by NSS carry the number '77/2', being the second movie the NSS catalogued and printed promotional material for the coming '77 year.

Rocky is a timeless classic that captivates audiences with its underdog story and themes of determination, perseverance, and the triumph of the human spirit. Sylvester Stallone's portrayal of Rocky Balboa, a seemingly ordinary man thrust into extraordinary circumstances, resonates with viewers worldwide. The film's iconic training montages, memorable characters, and unforgettable soundtrack have solidified its place in cinematic history. Whether you're a fan of boxing or not, Rocky delivers a powerful message about chasing your dreams against all odds.

Rocky had an estimated production budget of under $1 million. But despite its modest budget, the film went on to become the highest-grossing film of 1976, earning approximately $225 million worldwide. This immense financial success was a testament to the film's widespread popularity and enduring appeal, solidifying its place as a cultural phenomenon.

Condition

Folded as issued, some minor fold wear but in Very Fine condition. These posters are prone to cross-fold separations but none here. There is only one small 6mm fold tear in the top center edge fold. Very slight browning and usual light rubbing marks on some folds and edges (see images), but this would be easily removed should you decide to linen back, with a light clean, for display. These posters are getting much harder to find in this condition. This is a great example for easy linen backing and display.

Special Notes

Images may have a small 'MPA' digital watermark and this does not appear on the poster. Posters are being held by magnets in the corners to take photographs, so you may see some magnet and shadows from the magnets in these areas. The magnets are not included in the sale of the item.

FAQ

Who is Movie Posters Australia?

At Movie Posters Australia, the love and conservation of movie posters comes first, and we like to share this passion. Our commitment to quality means we will provide high quality memorabilia to our customers. Posters are carefully chosen and authenticated to ensure originality and value. We want our customers to trust MPA, so we always try to be as open and transparent as we can, provide detailed condition information and images, to ensure customers are comfortable and confident in their purchase.

What do your condition ratings mean?

While the industry does have a few condition rating standards, there is no movie poster condition rating system that has become the accepted standard world wide. This unfortunately makes condition terms vary from movie poster dealer to movie poster dealer. Terms like Mint, Near Mint, Very Fine, Fine, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor, seem to be universal to most condition rating standards, but most standards still lack definition about what and how many flaws/defects/damage defines a specific condition level. For more information on how Movie Posters Australia grades the condition of its movie posters, daybills, lobby cards and other ephemera please see out Movie Poster Condition and Grading page.
