Movie Synopsis

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1975), is a psychological drama film starring Jack Nicholson as Randle McMurphy, a charismatic but rebellious inmate who feigns insanity to avoid hard labor in a prison. He is transferred to a mental institution, where he clashes with the authoritarian Nurse Ratched, played by Louise Fletcher, who controls the ward with manipulative cruelty.

The movie is based on the 1962 novel of the same name by Ken Kesey. Nicholson's portrayal of McMurphy earned him widespread acclaim and solidified his status as one of Hollywood's leading actors.

Directed by Miloš Forman, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest received critical acclaim and was a major box office success. At the Academy Awards in 1976, the film made history by sweeping the Big Five categories: Best Picture, Best Director (Forman), Best Actor (Nicholson), Best Actress (Fletcher), and Best Adapted Screenplay (Lawrence Hauben and Bo Goldman). In addition to its Oscar wins, the film also received numerous other accolades, including Golden Globe Awards for Best Motion Picture – Drama, Best Director, and Best Actor (Nicholson). It is widely regarded as one of the greatest films ever made, praised for its powerful performances, incisive social commentary, and emotional depth.

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest remains a timeless classic that continues to resonate with audiences, exploring the complexities of mental illness, institutional control, and the human spirit's resilience in the face of adversity.

At Movie Posters Australia, the love and conservation of movie posters comes first, and we like to share this passion. Our commitment to quality means we will provide high quality memorabilia to our customers. Posters are carefully chosen and authenticated to ensure originality and value. We want our customers to trust MPA, so we always try to be as open and transparent as we can, provide detailed condition information and images, to ensure customers are comfortable and confident in their purchase.

What do your condition ratings mean?

While the industry does have a few condition rating standards, there is no movie poster condition rating system that has become the accepted standard world wide. This unfortunately makes condition terms vary from movie poster dealer to movie poster dealer. Terms like Mint, Near Mint, Very Fine, Fine, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor, seem to be universal to most condition rating standards, but most standards still lack definition about what and how many flaws/defects/damage defines a specific condition level. For more information on how Movie Posters Australia grades the condition of its movie posters, daybills, lobby cards and other ephemera please see out Movie Poster Condition and Grading page.
