HAIR (1979) Daybill Movie Poster, Treat Williams, VF

Movie Synopsis, Movie Poster, Artist & more

Hair (1979) is a musical film, based on the 1967 Broadway musical of the same name. Directed by Miloš Forman, its set against the backdrop of the Vietnam War era, the film follows a young man from Oklahoma, Claude John Savage, who befriends a group of hippies led by the charismatic Berger Treat Williams. Claude falls in love with a debutante named Sheila Beverly D'Angelo, and as he navigates his new friendships and romantic entanglements, he grapples with societal expectations and the anti-war movement. Filled with vibrant musical numbers and a poignant exploration of counterculture themes, Hair is a colorful and energetic portrayal of the turbulent 1960s.

This original movie poster was created by Bob Peak, with his dynamic and innovative style he revolutionized the art of film promotion, capturing the essence of movies through bold compositions, vivid colors, and expressive brushwork. His work not only promoted the films but also became collectible pieces of art in their own right, solidifying his legacy as one of the most influential movie poster artists of the 20th century.

What do your condition ratings mean?

While the industry does have a few condition rating standards, there is no movie poster condition rating system that has become the accepted standard world wide. This unfortunately makes condition terms vary from movie poster dealer to movie poster dealer. Terms like Mint, Near Mint, Very Fine, Fine, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor, seem to be universal to most condition rating standards, but most standards still lack definition about what and how many flaws/defects/damage defines a specific condition level. For more information on how Movie Posters Australia grades the condition of its movie posters, daybills, lobby cards and other ephemera please see out Movie Poster Condition and Grading page.
