Movie Synopsis, Movie Poster, Artist & more

Gorky Park is a 1983 crime thriller directed by Michael Apted, based on the novel of the same name by Martin Cruz Smith. Set in the Soviet Union, the film follows Arkady Renko (played by William Hurt), a Moscow police investigator tasked with solving a grisly triple murder found in Gorky Park. As Renko delves deeper into the case, he discovers a complex web of corruption and conspiracy that reaches the highest echelons of Soviet society. Along the way, he forms an uneasy alliance with an American journalist named Jack Osborne (played by Lee Marvin) and a beautiful Soviet dissident (played by Joanna Pacula). As Renko navigates the treacherous political landscape of 1980s Moscow, he finds himself confronting not only a ruthless killer but also the dark truths of his own country's system. Gorky Park is praised for its atmospheric cinematography, gripping storyline, and strong performances, particularly from Hurt in the lead role. It offers a compelling glimpse into the Cold War-era Soviet Union, blending elements of mystery, political intrigue, and human drama to create a tense and engrossing thriller.

The movie poster is a Daybill and was printed by M.A.P.S. Litho Pty Ltd.

What do your condition ratings mean?

While the industry does have a few condition rating standards, there is no movie poster condition rating system that has become the accepted standard world wide. This unfortunately makes condition terms vary from movie poster dealer to movie poster dealer. Terms like Mint, Near Mint, Very Fine, Fine, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor, seem to be universal to most condition rating standards, but most standards still lack definition about what and how many flaws/defects/damage defines a specific condition level. For more information on how Movie Posters Australia grades the condition of its movie posters, daybills, lobby cards and other ephemera please see out Movie Poster Condition and Grading page.
