BLACK RAIN (1989) Michael Douglas, US 1 Sheet, Very Fine+ Condition

Movie Synopsis, Movie Poster, Artist & more

Black Rain (1989) is an action thriller directed by Ridley Scott. Set primarily in Japan, the film follows two New York City police officers, Nick Conklin (played by Michael Douglas) and Charlie Vincent (played by Andy Garcia), who inadvertently become involved in a Japanese Yakuza gang's criminal activities after apprehending a member of the gang in New York. When they escort the criminal back to Japan, they find themselves caught up in a complex web of honor, crime, and corruption.

As they navigate the unfamiliar and dangerous territory of Japanese organized crime, Conklin and Vincent must not only contend with the Yakuza but also with cultural differences and the Japanese police force. They team up with a Japanese detective, Masahiro (played by Ken Takakura), who helps them navigate the intricate underworld of Tokyo.

The film explores themes of honor, justice, and redemption against the backdrop of a gritty and atmospheric setting. Ridley Scott's direction brings a visceral intensity to the action sequences, while Michael Douglas delivers a compelling performance as the flawed protagonist grappling with his own demons. Black Rain is a gripping and stylish thriller that remains a standout in both Scott's filmography and the action genre as a whole.

What do your condition ratings mean?

While the industry does have a few condition rating standards, there is no movie poster condition rating system that has become the accepted standard world wide. This unfortunately makes condition terms vary from movie poster dealer to movie poster dealer. Terms like Mint, Near Mint, Very Fine, Fine, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor, seem to be universal to most condition rating standards, but most standards still lack definition about what and how many flaws/defects/damage defines a specific condition level. For more information on how Movie Posters Australia grades the condition of its movie posters, daybills, lobby cards and other ephemera please see out Movie Poster Condition and Grading page.
